Kash Patel can be FBI director without the Senate
Senators may want to think twice about obstructing a qualified man for the job.
President-elect Donald Trump made perhaps is most MAGA-pleasing personnel selection since Nov. 5: Kash Patel for director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The FBI is technically not a Cabinet agency; it falls directly under the Department of Justice, which is set to be headed by Pam Bondi as attorney general. Bondi is the former attorney general of Florida, and faces a clear path to confirmation.
Patel, on the other hand, is more controversial, but unlike Matt Gaetz for attorney general, he brings a laundry list of qualifications and Trump has an opportunity to bypass the Senate - if it comes to that.
